Dr. Shirmohammad joined UCI Department of Radiation Oncology as a Clinical Assistant Professor in July 2024. She completed her residency in therapeutic medical physics at the University of Michigan, after earning her PhD in Physics from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada.

During her PhD, Dr. Shirmohammad developed novel Raman spectroscopy techniques to analyze breath components, aiming to identify early-stage cancer biomarkers—potentially enabling earlier diagnosis than current methods allow.

Passionate about improving cancer care and saving lives, Dr. Shirmohammad integrates her advanced physics background with clinical expertise to enhance radiation oncology and advance patient care.

Dr. Shirmohammad has multiple research interests, with a focus on integrating advanced optical techniques into the field of radiation oncology. She is also keen on using nuclear medicine imaging to study radiation response assessment. In addition, she aims to explore the fields of theranostics and radionuclide dosimetry, which hold promise for improving personalized cancer treatment and enhancing the precision of radiation therapies.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
